Valleys Inaugural
Indigenous Round

ValleysFVClogo.png

Valleys hosted our first Indigenous Round on 21 August 2021, Celebrating the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Week and officially launching our Indigenous Jersey and First Nation's Working Party.

Since this time, Valleys have partnered with a number of key organisations including Kurbingui, Deadly Choices,  QHAIC and the ARTIE program to name just a few. To support local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses and organisations we also offered the opportunity for businesses to hold stalls, to showcase their products and services and run activities.

The Indigenous round is just the beginning of what will become an ongoing cultural awareness agenda for Valleys. The First Nation's Working Party will be a sub-committee within the clubs organisational structure and will work closely with the Committee by providing or obtaining advice on cultural matters, facilitating key events which promote cultural awareness and providing recommendations for improvements on club processes and procedures. The working party will also create an avenue for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander members to seek advice, discuss concerns and provide suggestions in an environment where they feel culturally safe.

This initiative is aimed to ensure that our club has appropriate representation of our First Nations community and continuous improvement in our everyday operations.
