Michael Dowling

Dear Parents, Members, Supporters and our valued Sponsors,

My name is Mick Dowling and I am honoured to be the newly elected President of Fortitude Valley Rugby League Football Club – Junior Division Inc (Valleys Diehards) for the upcoming 2021 season.

I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself formally.

My Journey with Valleys Diehards commenced over 12 years ago when my nephew played his first game of rugby league for Valleys. I recall feeling very welcomed and I immediately felt a connection with the club and its unique community spirit.

From that point, I knew that I wanted my son Rhyce to play at Valleys. Rhyce joined the Under 6's in 2010 and this year he celebrated his 10th consecutive year in the royal blue.

During the past ten years, I have undertaken various coaching roles and assisted with the strength and conditioning program for senior football.

The past two years have seen me step onto the Committee. Specifically, this year acting as the Deputy President under Danny Walker. This perspective enabled me to gain a real appreciation for not only our widely celebrated heritage but where our Club's overall direction is heading.

I want to take the time thank Danny Walker, the outgoing President, for his passion and commitment to this Great Club over the previous ten years in this role. Danny's tireless efforts and undying loyalty to Valleys have seen the Club move from strength to strength. It is with thanks to Danny that the Club now finds itself in a very enviable position.

I also offer many thanks and gratitude to the outgoing 2020 committee, the forethought and work ethic throughout the year should be highly applauded.

To all the Junior and Senior Coaches, Coaching staff, and Managers, I know that as volunteers you "do not necessarily have the time, but you have the heart ", and I would like to thank you all sincerely.

I am genuinely excited about the upcoming 2021 season. I wish you all the best over the festive season, and I cannot wait for the 2021 season to commence.
